Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Coordinator to support our project and operations teams. This role is responsible for reviewing customer contracts and drawings, ensuring material requirements align with what is ordered from vendors, and helping maintain accuracy across purchasing and project documentation.
This position plays a critical role in cost control, accuracy, and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer contracts, scopes of work, and engineered drawings to verify material requirements
- Ensure vendor purchase orders accurately reflect what the client has ordered
- Coordinate with project managers, sales, and engineering to resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and issue purchase orders to approved vendors
- Track material orders, lead times, and delivery schedules
- Maintain organized purchasing records and documentation
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and order status
- Assist with resolving material shortages, substitutions, or errors
- Support continuous improvement of purchasing and documentation processes
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials coordination
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, specifications, and basic construction drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general office software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction, metal buildings, or engineered materials
- Familiarity with vendor pricing, lead times, and supply chain coordination
- Experience working with ERP or project management software
- Experience in structural engineering or architectural design
