General Superintendent – Structural Steel Erection (High Travel)
We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to take full field leadership responsibility for the structural steel scope on a single, large-scale, complex project. This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role overseeing all aspects of steel erection from mobilization through completion.
This is a high-travel position, requiring extended time on-site for the duration of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all structural steel erection activities on a major, complex project
- Oversee all field crews, foremen, and subcontractors involved in steel erection
- Manage daily field operations, sequencing, and manpower planning
- Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of all structural steel
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, fabricators, and general contractor
- Maintain schedule adherence and drive field productivity
- Resolve field issues quickly and effectively to avoid delays
- Enforce strict safety standards and ensure full compliance on site
- Serve as the primary field authority for all structural steel scope decisions
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in structural steel erection required
- Proven background leading large, complex, high-tonnage steel projects
- Strong understanding of erection sequencing, rigging, and field logistics
- Prior experience as a Superintendent or General Superintendent preferred
- Ability to lead large crews on major commercial or industrial projects
- Willingness to travel extensively and remain on-site for extended durations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
