Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated survey crew chief to lead a 2-3 person field crew on a variety of land surveying projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on field experience, and proficiency in modern survey equipment and software.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and manage field crews on boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and as-built surveys
  • Operate and maintain GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors
  • Interpret and execute survey instructions from project managers and CAD teams
  • Ensure accurate and complete field notes, sketches, and data collection
  • Maintain equipment, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with project specs
  • Travel to job sites throughout Louisiana as needed (home nightly in most cases)

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of land surveying experience, including 2+ years as a Crew Chief
  • Proficient in the use of Trimble or similar survey equipment
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS
  • Strong understanding of boundary, ALTA, topographic, and construction surveys
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift 50+ lbs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay: $28–$38 per hour (DOE)
