Criminal Defense Associate Attorney – Full-Time

A well-established law firm in Austin, Texas, is seeking a skilled and motivated attorney to join its growing Criminal Defense practice. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a dedicated legal team that values advocacy, integrity, and client-focused representation.We are looking for an attorney who is passionate about defending individuals facing criminal charges and who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, has courtroom experience, and is ready to take ownership of their caseload while working collaboratively with a team of professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in criminal defense matters across Central Texas.
  • Handle cases at various stages, including pre-trial hearings, negotiations, and trial proceedings.
  • Advocate effectively for clients in county courts, detention facilities, and through negotiations with prosecutors.
  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and develop case strategies.
  • Provide clear communication and guidance to clients throughout their cases.
  • Travel as needed to jails and detention centers within the region.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas (JD & active State Bar membership required).
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in criminal law (defense or prosecution).
  • A valid driver’s license, as travel within Central Texas is required.
  • Prior experience in Travis, Hays, and Williamson County courts is highly preferred.
  • Strong courtroom advocacy skills, with prior litigation experience being a plus.
  • Ability to manage a docket independently in a high-volume practice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

Compensation: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
