Job Description

A growing, well-established real estate law firm in Milwaukee is seeking an associate attorney to join its dynamic and engaging Assessment Recovery group. This role offers a tremendous opportunity for long-term advancement and professional development within a firm that values client relationships and courtroom excellence.

The successful candidate will regularly handle a wide variety of matters, including:

  • Assessment recovery
  • Money judgments
  • Bankruptcy
  • Judgment execution
  • Foreclosure
  • Other real property issues

The ideal candidate enjoys significant client contact and is comfortable with public speaking. The firm offers an extremely competitive benefits package, including health, disability, and retirement benefits.

Application Requirements

  • Must be admitted to practice law in Wisconsin
  • 1–5 years of relevant litigation experience in real estate, corporate, or contract law, or in representing governmental organizations in civil litigation matters
  • Demonstrated dedication and strong work ethic in prior roles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and other professional software
  • Availability during standard business hours, as well as some evenings and weekends for client meetings
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Ability to manage a high project load and administrative staff
  • In-depth knowledge and ability to independently manage a diverse caseload (assigned or personally originated)
  • Experience chairing client and corporate meetings
  • Strong organizational skills, including managing electronic task lists and billing
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive case status updates
  • Proficiency across all phases of litigation, including:
    • Drafting complaints and answers
    • Discovery
    • Witness preparation
    • Taking and defending depositions
    • Motion practice
    • Trial preparation and conduct
