Job Summary/Description- Jacksonville, FL: Landfill gas (LFG) Well Field Technician to perform routine monitoring and maintenance of the LFG gas well system. Experience with 4 years of directly applicable experience in LFG systems or educational degree related to environmental, geotechnical, geology, or hydrogeology. Individuals must be willing to work in a landfill during all types of weather, have valid driver’s licenses, be mechanically inclined, and be able to operate an ATV and use a computer. Also must be ble to work without direct supervision and be reliable. Responsibilities: Under general supervision operates, monitors, and maintains landfill gas migration control/recovery systems; provide long-term post closure care at closed landfill sites. Additionally may operate, monitor, and maintain other environmental pollution control systems including VES (Vapor Extraction Systems) and GWP&T (Ground Water Pump and Treat). Organizational Relationships: · Reports to the Engineer, V.P of Operations or the Project Manager. · May supervise or otherwise be assisted by Laborers, Equipment Operators. Activities: A. Field sampling of various test locations including wells, probes, headers, blowers, flares, pumps, etc. B. Data recording and analysis. C. Based on data review and consultation with supervisor, adjusts gas flow rates from wells, headers, and blowers (pumps). D. Operates and maintains various analytical equipment including calibration. E. Records and maintains daily field logs reporting data collected, field observations, actions taken, and recommended actions to be taken. F. Reports/consults with supervisor (and in some instances client) regarding field conditions and test results. G. Implements necessary routine and non-routine repairs and maintenance required to keep systems operating and in compliance with various prescribed operating parameters and goals. H. Perform, supervise, and/or otherwise assist in required maintenance and repairs. I. Interact/supervise/manage vendors and/or sub-contractors needed to assist with operating, monitoring, and maintenance of the control/recovery systems. J. Conduct on-site Health and Safety meetings (tailgate meetings) and verify that Health and Safety standards are followed by on-site staff and sub-contractors. K. Walks the landfill with an air-monitoring instrument to perform surface emission monitoring. L. Use of tools, ladders, portable saws, and generators to cut pipe to raise or repair gas well piping. M. Use grinders and extrusion welding equipment to repair or expand gas system or leachate piping. N. May be required to operate backhoe and/or forklifts to remove soil and lift piping and equipment to perform non-routine repairs on gas system and leachate piping.
· Education Needed if any – associates or bachelors degree preferred.
· Training/ Certifications – 40 OSHA
· Technical Experience (computer programs, field equipment) – HDPE pipe experience a plus, computer know how, must have valid driver’s license and good record, operate an ATV
· Percent of time in Office verse % of time in Field – 100% in field
· Travel (day trips or overnight and % of travel un-expected) – potential for overnight and travel up to one week at a time, estimated travel at this time 10% of time
· Industry Experience Needed if any (Landfill Gas, Solid Waste, Environmental, Mechanical) – industry experience a plus
