Financial Controller

A prominent and successful 50+ years privately owned Full-Service Real Estate Firm located in Central New Jersey is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join their team.

We’re looking for the best and the brightest! The Financial Controller will possess a solid foundation in real estate general ledger accounting, financial reporting, tax management, and team management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Successfully mentoring and guiding an established team of accounting professionals while creating a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee monthly close and preparation of internal and external financial reporting.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual operating budgets.
  • Develop and implement effective tax strategies ensuring government compliance.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with investors and banking associates.
  • Oversee preparation of CAM, Tax, Insurance, Utility Reconciliations. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated 8+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience.
  • History of successfully managing accounting teams.
  • Must possess a strong foundation in GL accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong experience effectively creating budgets and forecasts.
  • Experience with Excel modeling and financial analysis.
  • Ability to correctly calculate CAM and utility reconciliations.
  • Experience working closely with outside auditing firms.
  • Maintains a growth mindset and continuously improves systems and processes.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to relate and address issues with a diverse group of people.
