Operations Manager – Law Firm

A respected and well-established law firm located in St. Louis (Clayton), Missouri, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead and enhance internal operations across multiple departments. This is a confidential search conducted by a legal recruiter on behalf of the firm.
This newly elevated leadership role is designed for an operations professional who thrives in a team-oriented, process-driven environment. The Operations Manager will work directly with the firm’s President and Board of Directors to drive efficiency, manage internal infrastructure, and support firm-wide strategic initiatives.
Oversee day-to-day operations including systems and software, facilities, records management, and office services
Collaborate with department heads to design and implement workflows that support firm growth and performance
Establish and enforce policies in line with leadership objectives
Coordinate short-term and long-range planning, including budgeting and forecasting
Monitor and report on operational performance, offering strategic input to leadership
Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements
Cultivate communication and alignment across internal teams and departments
Competencies & Strengths:
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Proven project management capabilities with attention to timelines and deliverables
High-level business acumen with an understanding of profitability, cost control, and operational planning
Effective team leader and communicator who fosters collaboration
Excellent analytical and technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel); familiarity with ProLaw is a plus
Required Background:
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred
4–10 years of law firm operations experience or comparable background in a professional services firm
Previous experience supervising staff and working closely with executive leadership
Demonstrated ability to implement systems and drive change in a structured, strategic manner
Moderate office noise and standard physical requirements (e.g., occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, ability to sit/stand/walk throughout the day)
In-office presence in Clayton, MO, required
