Job Description

Job Title: Director of Safety – Steel Construction/Erection

Type: Full-Time
Industry: Steel Construction / Structural Steel Erection

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Director of Safety to oversee and manage all safety operations for our steel construction and erection projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in safety leadership roles within large-scale steel construction organizations and possess deep knowledge of AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and policies across all projects.

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, AISC, and company safety standards.

  • Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

  • Train and mentor site safety personnel and project teams.

  • Report regularly on safety metrics, incidents, and improvements.

  • Collaborate with operations teams to integrate safety into planning and execution phases.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a safety leadership role within a large steel construction or erection company.

  • Extensive knowledge of AISC standards, steel erection safety practices, and OSHA regulations.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence safety culture at all organizational levels.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • CSP, CHST, or equivalent certification preferred.
