LOGISTICS DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS/PERISHABLE GOODS HANDLING
A dynamic and fast-paced logistics organization specializing in cold chain logistics and time-sensitive air freight operations. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a results-driven Director of Operations to lead our logistics and warehouse teams in Los Angeles.
Position Summary
The Director of Operations will oversee day-to-day logistics, warehouse, and air freight activities, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and efficiency in all areas. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for streamlining processes, managing cross-functional teams, and driving performance within a 24/7 logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including staffing, productivity, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee air freight operations, including the packing of airline containers and coordination with carriers, customs, and other regulatory bodies.
- Ensure effective handling and transportation of perishable goods such as produce, seafood, and flowers within cold chain parameters.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Maintain and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational effectiveness and drive accountability.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Customer Service, and Compliance to align operational goals with broader business objectives.
- Serve as the point of contact for high-level client and carrier interactions as it pertains to operational matters.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., APICS, Lean Six Sigma) preferred.
Experience:
- MUST HAVE-7–10 years of experience in logistics or warehouse management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- MUST HAVE -Demonstrated success managing cold chain logistics and perishable goods.
- MUST HAVE-Strong background in air freight operations, including container packing and 24/7 warehouse management.
- MUST HAVE-In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, intermodal transportation, and international shipping compliance.
- MUST HAVE-Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in fast-paced environments.
