Job Summary: The Wall Panel Technician is responsible for supporting the design of residential and commercial wall panels. This role will utilize design software, interpret architectural and structural drawings, and learn to create layouts and component drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in reading and reviewing sketches, drawings, specifications, and engineering data provided by architects, engineers, and drafters.
- Support the evaluation of design feasibility based on factors such as safety, function, budget, and market characteristics.
- Research production specifications, costs, and materials; assist in providing cost estimates.
- Modify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications or building plan changes.
- Generate wall panel layouts for final construction.
- Learn to develop component documents for work orders to optimize cutting and assembly processes.
- Maintain consistent quality design work within the department.
- Communicate with immediate peers and peers in other departments for the purpose of maintaining continuity of design philosophy and effectiveness of designs.
- Communicate with customers as needed to clarify the customer expectations.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams on technical inquiries.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED, or Associates’ Degree required.
- Knowledge in Outlook, Excel, Work, and PowerPoint.
- CAD and BIM experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze technical problems, determine root causes and recommend solutions to management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to recommend changes to drive business objectives.
- Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, making clear decisions in the best interests of the organization.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Self-motivated and work independently as well as work with a team.
- Effectively operate computer hardware and software and perform basic math functions.
- Strong attention to detail and be able to stay focused for long periods of time.
