Mechanical Engineer – HVAC / Building Systems

Location: Greater Phoenix Area
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

We’re partnered with a respected mechanical contractor known for delivering high-quality HVAC, building automation, and retrofit solutions. Their team combines technical expertise with innovative, energy-efficient system design—supporting projects across commercial, healthcare, and institutional markets.

The Mechanical Engineer will assist with mechanical design, system analysis, and project documentation, working alongside senior engineers and project managers to deliver high-performing, cost-effective building systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who values mentorship, technical growth, and exposure to a wide range of mechanical systems and applications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support HVAC system design, including equipment selection, load calculations, and ductwork/piping layouts.

  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations and energy compliance analysis.

  • Contribute to the development of mechanical drawings and design documents.

  • Assist with system sizing, layout coordination, and field verification.

  • Review and interpret mechanical codes, energy standards, and project specifications.

  • Collaborate with design teams to identify energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions.

  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.

  • Help develop work scopes, submittal packages, and assist with design coordination.

  • Manage multiple deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.

  • 1+ years of experience in HVAC or mechanical system design preferred.

  • EIT or CEM certification is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP or Revit preferred.

  • Familiarity with building codes, ASHRAE standards, and energy efficiency requirements.

  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
