Job Title: Purchasing Agent – Custom Homes
Location: Phoenix, AZ
About the Role:
A custom home builder in the Phoenix market is seeking a Purchasing Agent – Custom Homes. This is a client-facing purchasing role that reports to the Procurement Manager and supports high-end, custom single-family home projects. The ideal candidate brings a mix of estimating, design, and procurement experience and is polished for direct client and trade interactions.
Purchasing Agent – Custom Homes — Key Responsibilities:
Manage purchasing for custom home projects: materials, specialty finishes, equipment, and trade services.
Partner with estimating and design teams to align budgets, scopes, and selections.
Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate bids; prepare purchase orders and vendor contracts.
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and interior design teams to ensure procurement matches schedule and client expectations.
Maintain and develop vendor/trade relationships; monitor supplier performance for quality and timeliness.
Track market pricing and lead cost-savings initiatives without compromising custom-quality standards.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and vendor agreements.
Represent the company in a polished, client-facing capacity during design selections and owner meetings.
Report directly to the Procurement Manager.
Qualifications:
Proven background combining Estimating, Design, and Construction industry experience.
Polished and experienced in client-facing communication (owners, design partners, trade partners).
Strong negotiating, organizational, and contract management skills.
Comfortable using construction/purchasing software and tools (Procore, Buildertrend, Excel, etc.).
Ability to manage multiple custom projects and priorities in a high-touch environment.
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required (only include if candidate/resume shows it).
