Construction Estimator

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Company Overview:
A well-respected general contractor in the Milwaukee market is seeking an Estimator with strong ground-up commercial experience. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with design, subcontractors, and operations to deliver accurate, competitive bids. Experience in multiple commercial sectors is required, and familiarity with large multifamily or data center projects is a plus!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed estimates for ground-up commercial construction projects, including large multifamily, office, retail, and mixed-use developments

  • Perform quantity take-offs, material, labor, and equipment cost calculations

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project plans to define scope and identify risks

  • Solicit, compare, and vet subcontractor and vendor bids

  • Partner with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure estimates align with design intent and budget constraints

  • Provide value engineering input and alternatives to help optimize cost without sacrificing quality

  • Maintain historical cost data and refine estimating processes to improve accuracy over time

  • Produce bid packages, proposals, and presentations for clients as needed

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in ground-up commercial construction

  • Proven track record with diverse commercial project types

  • Strong technical skills: ability to read plans and specs, do take-offs, understand construction methods

  • Proficiency with estimating software/tools (examples might include On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Excel, etc.)

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
