Job Description

The Machining Technician will independently perform machining, fabrication, assembly, and testing tasks to support new product development and production. This role requires interpreting engineering drawings, planning machining operations, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and interacting with the company’s ERP system for job tracking.

 

Responsibilities:

Prototyping & Product Development

  • Work closely with Engineering to develop and produce prototypes using various manufacturing methods and materials.
  • Fabricate components, fasten and assemble parts, and test completed units.
  • Design, build, fabricate, and maintain jigs and fixtures.
  • Assist in product design, testing, diagnosis, and troubleshooting.
  • Adapt quickly to changing tasks and project requirements.

Machine Operations

  • Operate CNC and manual milling machines (milling expertise is essential)
  • Operate CNC and manual lathes.• Use grinders, sanders, welding equipment (TIG, MIG, arc), and 3D printing tools
  • Develop CNC programs using models, drawings, or sketches
  • Understand, troubleshoot, optimize, modify, and enhance CNC code for efficiency and affordability, and report changes to appropriate personnel
  • Operate additional machines while CNC equipment is running
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and tooling

Production Support

  • Manufacture low- and high-volume parts
  • Modify existing components as required
  • Fabricate and maintain production jigs and fixtures

Measurement & Quality Control

  • Use precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, protractors, scales, and shadow graphs
  • Maintain tolerances within 0.003” during manual machining operations
  • Ensure all work meets established quality, accuracy, and documentation requirements

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Interact with the ERP system for job tracking and documentation
  • Perform additional tasks as required and adapt to evolving responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience setting up and operating 3-axis CNC milling machines
  • 2+ years of experience operating manual mills and lathes
  • Experience generating and optimizing toolpaths and G-code using CAM software(Mastercam preferred)
  • Ability to hold tolerances within 0.003” for manual operations
  • NIMS (or equivalent) certifications preferred
  • Experience with soldering, brazing, and welding (TIG, MIG, arc)
  • Experience with electro-mechanical assembly (wiring, plumbing)
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and business software (ERP, email, and job tracking tools)
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings using GD&T.• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
