Vice President of Bank Operations

Location: [HOUSTON – Texas Based] Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Overview

A growing community-focused financial institution is seeking a Vice President of Bank Operations to provide strategic leadership across Operations and Retail Banking. This executive will drive operational excellence, support scalable growth initiatives, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. The role is ideal for a results-oriented leader with proven success in banking operations, compliance, and process improvement—who can think strategically while staying hands-on with execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage core processing platforms, operational systems, and retail banking functions.

  • Develop and execute operational strategies to support national growth and long-term scalability.

  • Drive process improvements, risk management, and regulatory compliance across all operational areas.

  • Oversee strategic projects, technology integrations, and vendor/partner relationships.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership in finance, compliance, marketing, and business development.

  • Create and manage KPI frameworks, dashboards, and performance reporting for leadership.

  • Provide direct leadership and mentorship to branch managers and operations staff, fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Partner in annual budgeting, resource planning, and strategic organizational development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in banking or financial operations.

  • Expertise in regulatory compliance (OCC standards preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of commercial loan operations, loan servicing, and processing.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex operational projects with efficiency and fiscal control.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging staff, executives, and regulators.

  • Commitment to community development and financial inclusion.
