The Opportunity

As a P&C Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing, pricing, and managing insurance risks for both new and renewal business. You will be instrumental in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with our valued brokers and insureds, directly contributing to our continued growth and success. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on precision, proactive engagement, and continuous learning within the Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly underwrite new and renewal Property and Casualty insurance submissions, evaluating complex risks and exposures with keen attention to detail.
  • Determine appropriate pricing levels, coverage terms, and conditions to ensure profitability and competitiveness while meeting client needs.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, proactive relationships with brokers and insureds by providing timely, responsive, and high-quality customer service.
  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities through consistent communication, market awareness, and collaboration with brokers and clients.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams (e.g., claims, sales, operations) to streamline processes and enhance overall operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Stay current with market trends, industry regulations, and emerging risks to inform sound underwriting decisions and contribute to portfolio management.

What You Bring

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 2 years of progressive Property and Casualty underwriting experience.
    • Proven experience specifically in Excess and Surplus (E&S) lines underwriting.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex information clearly and persuasively.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a genuine focus on client satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working with a diverse client base in a metropolitan area.
    • Proficiency with industry-standard underwriting software and risk assessment platforms.
