About the Role:
A respected heavy civil contractor is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead OH Department of Highways (DOH) bridge and infrastructure projects from their Sydney, OH office. With projects across the state, this leadership role offers the chance to oversee multiple jobs and mentor junior team members while remaining primarily office-based (80% office / 20% field).
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with OH DOT, estimating, and managing crews and subcontractors. You'll work closely with leadership, lead a team of PMs, and play a key role in delivering projects on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage 3–4 Project Managers and oversee up to 12 active projects statewide
Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution
Interface with OH DOT and other public agency clients
Review and approve estimates; HCSS estimating software experience a plus
Ensure compliance with contracts, safety standards, and state regulations
Mentor junior PMs and foster a high-performance team culture
Monitor job costs, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
Travel to job sites as needed (approximately 20%)
Qualifications:
8–10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management
Strong knowledge of OH DOT standards and procedures
Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar bridge or road projects
Experience overseeing multiple teams and active jobs simultaneously
Proficient in construction documentation and reporting
Estimating experience required; HCSS experience is a strong plus
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
