Position Overview:
Seeking a dedicated and experienced Municipal Law Attorney to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record working with municipalities, including local governments, agencies, and related entities in New Jersey. You will provide legal counsel on a variety of municipal issues including land use, zoning, ordinances, public policy, and municipal governance.

Responsibilities:

  • They represent municipalities in rent control, foreclosures, special litigation, and labor law.
  • Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and case law affecting municipal governance in these areas 
  • Attend meetings, hearings, and negotiations on behalf of the municipality 
  • Collaborate with municipal departments, external legal teams, and stakeholders 
  • Draft legal opinions, reports, and official documents for municipal clients 
  • Ensure the municipality’s actions and policies are compliant with applicable statutes and ordinances

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school 
  • Admission to the New Jersey State Bar 
  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience working with municipalities or local government entities
  • Strong knowledge of New Jersey municipal law and public policy 
  • Excellent advocacy, communication, and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
