Location: Vancouver, BC
Job Type: Full-Time | Partnership Track
Practice Area: Wills, Trusts & Estates
Overview:
A well-established, independent law firm in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Senior Wills & Estates Litigation Lawyer to join the team in a leadership capacity. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned practitioner ready to step into a role with more autonomy, visibility, and long-term potential. The successful candidate will help build and guide the estates group while also contributing to firm-wide strategy and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop the firm’s Wills & Estates practice
Deliver high-quality estate planning and administration services
Mentor and support junior lawyers and legal staff
Drive business development and client relationship growth
Collaborate on firm-wide initiatives, including marketing, hiring, and strategic planning
Contribute to the broader leadership of the firm
Why This Role Stands Out:
Clear Partnership Track: A written framework outlining partnership criteria will be shared during the interview process
Leadership Opportunity: Play a key role in setting standards, defining systems, and growing the estates group
Firm-Level Influence: With a smaller partnership group, you'll have a larger say in how the firm operates and grows
Collaborative Culture: A supportive, entrepreneurial environment where your ideas and input matter
Ideal Candidate:
7+ years of experience in wills, trusts, and estates (planning and administration; litigation experience is a plus)
Strong technical skills and a client-first approach
Demonstrated leadership or readiness to lead
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to collaborate across the firm
Comfortable working in a more hands-on, agile setting
Additional Notes:
Candidates coming from national firms should be aware that the infrastructure may be leaner — but the trade-off is greater influence, visibility, and opportunity to help shape the direction of both the group and the firm.
