Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation Defense – San Francisco, CA (Remote/Hybrid)

A well-regarded law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its San Francisco office. This role is ideal for attorneys with 2+ years of civil litigation experience, from mid-level to senior, who want to work on a varied and challenging defense practice. The position offers flexibility with remote or hybrid work, a supportive team environment, and significant opportunities for professional growth. Candidates working remotely must be licensed and reside in California.

About the Role
The Associate Attorney will handle civil litigation defense matters across a range of practice areas, including personal injury, real estate, employment law, insurance defense, and habitability issues. Attorneys will have the opportunity to manage cases independently while collaborating with experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage civil litigation defense cases from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and other court filings
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice to clients
  • Engage with clients, opposing counsel, and courts to move cases forward efficiently
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution proceedings

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar membership
  • Minimum 2 years of civil litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases independently while collaborating effectively
  • Experience across diverse civil litigation matters is highly desirable
