Job Description

We are working with a highly reputable company seeking a highly skilled Estimator to their team. The Estimator is responsible for providing cost estimates and budgets for commercial demolition and abatement of commercial buildings. This includes analyzing design drawings, general contractor proposals, and requirements, as well as physically visiting sites to confirm existing conditions. The role also encompasses earthwork/horizontal construction projects such as site development, land development, grading, and underground utilities. Additionally, the Estimator will conduct pre-bid meetings, determine the scope of work, and respond to requests for proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate cost estimates and budgets for commercial demolition and abatement projects.
  • Analyze design drawings and contractor proposals.
  • Conduct site visits to confirm existing conditions.
  • Manage earthwork/horizontal construction projects, including site development, land development, grading, and underground utilities.
  • Conduct and lead pre-bid meetings.
  • Determine the scope of work and respond to requests for proposals.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of construction management experience, with at least 3 years as a construction estimator, specifically in abatement, demolition, and/or earthworks (horizontal construction).
  • Outstanding takeoff abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding contractual plans, specifications, and blueprints, including AIA contracts.
  • Ability to read and interpret Civil Design Disciplines, including grading, paving, and infrastructure (wet and dry utilities).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the demolition scope of work, including interior demo, hard demo, saw cutting, and concrete coring.
  • Ability to incorporate project specifications, scope limits, and constraints into pricing.

  • MS Office Suite
  • Sage Timberline Estimating Software
  • AGTEK
  • BlueBeam Construction Software

Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to handle a high volume of work and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.
  • Knowledge of basic regulatory requirements and budgetary knowledge.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional decorum and business maturity.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and organizational and time management skills.
