Position Overview: Our client is looking for a Fire Sprinkler Designer with NICET Level II or III certification to join their fire protection team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing automatic fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential projects. This role requires a strong technical foundation, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Design wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and client specifications
Create layout drawings using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Revit, or similar design software
Prepare hydraulic calculations, material lists, and detailed fabrication drawings
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field technicians throughout the project lifecycle
Submit plans for permitting and coordinate with AHJs to ensure code compliance
Assist in project bidding, estimating, and technical reviews as needed
Maintain project documentation and provide updates to stakeholders
Review as-built drawings and closeout documents for accuracy and completeness
Required Qualifications:
NICET Level II or III in Water-Based Systems Layout (required)
3+ years of experience in fire sprinkler design
Proficiency with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and other relevant design software
Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and related codes
Familiarity with submittals, permitting processes, and AHJ coordination
Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP construction documents
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with BIM/Revit coordination
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with clients and contractors
Field experience or knowledge of installation practices is a plus
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection, or related field (preferred but not required)
