Traveling Assistant Superintendent – Data Center Construction (Chicago, IL / Itasca) – Confidential

Full-Time | $90K–$105K + Bonus + Monthly GSA Travel Stipend + Full Benefits

A nationally recognized ENR design-build contractor with a rapidly growing data center division is seeking an experienced Traveling Assistant Superintendent to join its Chicago-based field leadership team.

This role supports large-scale mission-critical and data center projects across the Midwest with a predictable travel rotation and strong compensation structure.

Responsibilities:

• Support daily field operations on mission-critical/data center projects • Assist with subcontractor coordination, MEP interfaces, and technical scopes • Help drive scheduling, sequencing, and onsite workflow • Maintain daily logs, safety compliance, and field documentation • Collaborate closely with PMs and Superintendents to execute complex builds • Participate in ground-up activities from start to finish

Requirements:

• 2–4+ years commercial or industrial field experience with a General Contractor • Data center or mission-critical experience required • Experience with MEP coordination, commissioning/startup a plus • Comfortable with structured travel rotations • Strong communication, leadership presence, and stable work history • Ability to support large-scale technical projects ($30M–$200M+)

Travel & Compensation:

Rotation: 2–3 weeks onsite travel across the Midwest, followed by a long 4-day weekend home • Monthly GSA Per Diem: $2,500–$4,000 (covers housing + travel; unused funds are kept by the employee) • Predictable schedule + Chicago-based home office for local project work between rotations
