Estimator — Manhattan, KS (66502)

A well-established commercial and industrial construction company is seeking a Construction Estimator to join its preconstruction team in Manhattan, Kansas. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, and institutional projects while developing long-term career growth within a reputable general contractor.

Position Overview:
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects ranging from $1M to $50M+. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project management, operations, and executive teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.

  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for all construction disciplines.

  • Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals.

  • Identify scope gaps, value engineering opportunities, and constructability issues.

  • Prepare conceptual budgets and detailed estimates during all phases of design.

  • Collaborate closely with project managers during project handoff and buyout phases.

  • Maintain cost history data and assist with continuous improvement of estimating processes.

  • Attend pre-bid meetings and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience estimating with a General Contractor (commercial or industrial focus required).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience accepted).

  • Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, and materials.

  • Proficiency with estimating software (such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar).

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
