Job Description

One of the area's leading General Contractors is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Layout Engineer. They work throughout Mississippi on a diverse array of private and public projects. Responsibilities:

  • Proper use, maintenance and care of instruments supplied by company
  • Identify, locate base line control, create and Maintain job control from baseline for duration of project.
  • Perform layout of footings, rebar, faces of concrete, Anchor bolt locations within a tolerance of either an ACI standard or project parameters.
  • Robotic, one man survey preferred. Currently utilizing Leica instruments and Carlson software.
  • The use of CAD, with the ability to manipulate received structural, Civil or landscape files and incorporate them into workable backgrounds in the Data Collector is preferred.
  • Ability to think on the fly by creating “on the go” job files for smaller projects that may not have Cads available.
  • Ability to create additional Benchmarks when needed from information supplied by either Total station or site level.
  • Applicant is also required to create as-builts of anchor bolt, concrete faces and any aspects of the project necessary into a sharable format.
  • The ability to read, understand and interpret to the project all Contract Drawings, RFI’s and sketches as a project evolves.

Core Competencies:

  • Organization - Must be extremely organized and capable of working multiple projects and estimates at once. Must be able to see all aspects of the projects to close, not allowing any details to go unattended
  • Communication - Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills. Applicant must be comfortable making phone calls.
  • Problem Solving – Work with field personnel and management to come to a quick resolution of problems.

 

Qualifications:

  •  0-2 year of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (geotechnical, civil, structural).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, CAD)
