Heavy Equipment Operator – Finish Grade

An established excavation and grading contractor in the Kansas City area is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join their team. About the Role
We are looking for a dependable operator with strong finish grade abilities and experience working on excavation, grading, and site development projects. Candidates with Finish Grade Operator experience will be given top consideration. Foreman or supervisory experience is a plus and may lead to expanded leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, graders, loaders, and excavators
• Perform high-quality finish grading to meet project specifications
• Assist with site preparation, excavation, backfilling, and grading
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors
• Support field teams with various tasks as needed
• Provide guidance to laborers or operators if foreman experience is present
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator (excavation/grading required)
• Skilled in finish grading with precision and accuracy
• Foreman or supervisory experience is a plus
• Ability to read grade stakes, plans, or GPS systems (preferred)
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
• Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions
• Reliable transportation and work ethic
