Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and representation in family law matters such as divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, domestic violence, and adoption cases.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including petitions, motions, settlement agreements, and parenting plans.
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediation sessions, and trials.
- Assist clients in navigating emotionally sensitive family issues while providing strong legal support and advocacy.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to provide effective legal solutions to clients.
- Prepare and file legal pleadings and other documents with the court.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, explain legal procedures, and answer questions.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as financial experts, mediators, and social workers, to offer a comprehensive approach to resolving family issues.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the utmost professionalism and integrity.
- Stay current with developments in family law and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to Wisconsin and in good standing.
- 2-5 years of experience practicing family law, including experience in divorce, child custody, and other family-related legal matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional negotiation and mediation skills.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and able to handle sensitive issues with professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with high-net-worth divorces or complex family law matters.
- Certification or specialization in family law (optional).
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
