A well-established community-focused financial institution in Southern Illinois is seeking a detail-oriented Loan Documentation Specialist to support loan documentation, loan operations, and compliance functions. This role is ideal for someone with experience in lending support, loan processing, quality control, or loan operations who wants to step into a higher-responsibility position with strong stability and long-term growth.
About the Role:
The Loan Documentation Specialist is responsible for preparing accurate loan documents, ensuring legal enforceability, verifying collateral attachment, reviewing entity structures for proper signing authority, and supporting loan officers throughout the lending process. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to analyze information thoroughly, and comfort working with legal, regulatory, and financial documentation.
What You’ll Do:
• Prepare loan documents in accordance with approved terms, covenants, and pre-close requirements
• Review and understand entity documents (LLCs, corporations, operating agreements, bylaws)
• Assist with ordering and reviewing appraisals, title work, and lien verification
• Pull credit reports and ensure compliant borrower authorization
• Ensure adherence to consumer compliance regulations (TILA, RESPA, TRID, Flood, HMDA, ECOA, Fair Housing, FCRA)
• Complete HMDA worksheets when required
• Understand UCC filings and collateral documentation for vehicles, equipment, and other assets
• Help resolve loan technical exceptions
• Scan, file, and maintain accurate electronic loan records
• Support loan officers with scheduling, file preparation, and customer communication
• Greet customers and assist with directing inquiries
• Recognize irregular or suspicious activity and take steps to prevent loss
• Perform additional loan operations duties as needed to support the department
What You Bring:
• Some college, an associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred
• 2–3 years of experience in loan processing, loan documentation, lending quality control, banking operations, mortgage processing, or similar roles (strong interns or recent grads will be considered)
• Strong organization, accuracy, and time-management skills
• Ability to interpret legal terminology and regulatory requirements
• Working knowledge of accounting, finance, and ratios
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to learn and work within bank systems and Microsoft 365 tools
• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and service-oriented communication
Compensation & Benefits:
• $41,933 – $52,000 annually (based on $20.16 – $25.00/hour)
• Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
• Comprehensive benefits package, including employer 401(k) match
• Full-time schedule, Monday–Friday
