Job Description

Job Title: Project Engineer Specialized Mechanical / Process Systems

Location: Preferred: Sioux Falls, SD Also considering Minneapolis–St. Paul, MN (some travel required)

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the design, documentation, and execution of engineered systems for industrial and commercial applications. This role covers the full project lifecycle, including proposal development, specification review, system design, coordination with production teams, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design Engineering • Assist in developing and sizing mechanical or process systems based on project specifications. • Collaborate with drafting staff to produce system layouts, equipment drawings, and technical documentation. • Ensure designs meet project standards, performance requirements, and applicable regulations.

Technical Submittals • Prepare technical submittal packages, including drawings, datasheets, and compliance documents. • Coordinate reviews, approvals, and revisions with clients and internal teams. • Respond to RFIs and provide technical clarification as needed.

Quotations & Proposals • Analyze specifications and RFQs to create accurate cost estimates and proposals. • Work with vendors and internal teams to gather pricing and lead-time details. • Deliver detailed proposals aligned with scope, budget, and project requirements.

Client & Project Support • Support communication with clients, contractors, and internal departments throughout the project. • Provide engineering input during production, testing, and field activities when required.

Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering • 3+ years of experience in mechanical, process, manufacturing, or related engineered systems • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory guidelines • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of CAD tools (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications • Experience with packaged or modular mechanical systems • EIT, PE, PMP, or similar certification (or ability to obtain) • Background with industrial project documentation and procurement standards
