Job Title: Welder Inspector (Path to CWI Certification)
Employment Type: Full-Time


Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder/Inspector with at least 5 years of experience working in a steel fabrication shop, either as a welder or in a quality control capacity. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow into a Quality Control (QC) or inspection role. The company is willing to assist the right candidate in pursuing their Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual weld inspections and verify weld quality to meet project standards

  • Review fabrication drawings and ensure compliance with weld specifications

  • Assist in documenting and reporting quality issues in the shop

  • Work closely with welders, supervisors, and QC personnel to resolve any discrepancies

  • Support continuous improvement and quality assurance efforts


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a structural steel fabrication environment (as a welder or inspector)

  • Solid understanding of welding techniques, codes, and fabrication standards

  • Ability to read and interpret weld symbols and shop drawings

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Desire to advance into a formal QC or inspection role


Preferred but Not Required:

  • Previous inspection or QC experience

  • Familiarity with AWS, AISC, or similar standards (D1.1) is preferred but not required

  • Experience with documentation or quality tracking software
