Die Maker/Manual Machinist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Die Maker with a strong background in manual machining to join our team. This role is integral to producing and maintaining high-quality precision tooling used in the metal stamping and forming industry. Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual machining tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses, to produce precision components for die and tooling applications.

  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining and die-making requirements.

  • Perform machining operations such as turning, facing, boring, drilling, tapping, milling, surface grinding, and threading with precision and adherence to quality standards.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair dies, fixtures, and stamping tooling used in the production of metal components.

  • Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators, to verify part accuracy.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues related to stamping and fabricating tooling, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve product quality through better tool design.

  • Set up and operate CNC machining centers and wire EDM machines as required.

  • Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Complete work orders, production reports, and documentation accurately and on time.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or technical school certificate.

  • Experience as a Die Maker and Manual Machinist in a metal stamping or fabricating job shop environment.

  • Proficiency in operating manual machining tools and understanding machining techniques, tooling, and cutting parameters.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Excellent understanding of precision measuring instruments and inspection methods.

  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining and die-making issues.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineering and production teams.

  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.

  • Commitment to safety and maintaining an organized work area.
