Job Description

 A leading Midwest ag organization is seeking a skilled professional to manage grain merchandising operations, maximize net grain margins, and contribute to a dynamic team environment. This role offers stability, career growth, and excellent benefits for full-time employees.

Grain Merchandiser Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate rail freight and logistics
  • Build and maintain supply agreements with end users and railroads
  • Work with the merchandising team on accounting estimates and P&L
  • Develop and execute grain marketing strategies based on market conditions
  • Set grain bids for farmers and elevators
  • Provide valuations for month-end financial statements
  • Identify markets and secure farmer participation for special grain production
  • Monitor national and regional grain flows and maintain industry connections
  • Deliver prompt, professional, and courteous customer service

Grain Merchandiser Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years previous merchandising experience required! 
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Ag business/finance, or other Ag related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications can be a plus.
  • Backgound in Agriculture strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of commodities markets and trading strategies.
  • Familiarity with risk management techniques and financial instruments.
  • Proficiency in using trading platforms, market analysis tools, and software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
