Fire Alarm and Security Technician

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Alarm and Security Technician to join a valued client of ours in the area. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems, intrusion detection, access control, CCTV, and integrated security solutions in commercial and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and program fire alarm panels, security systems, access control, and video surveillance equipment

  • Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance in compliance with NFPA, NICET, and local codes

  • Diagnose issues and perform repairs on low-voltage systems and related components

  • Ensure accurate documentation of inspections, testing results, and service reports

  • Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to meet installation deadlines

  • Adhere to all safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies

  • Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders

  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service requests, as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or associate degree preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in fire alarm and/or security system installation and service

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and relevant codes and standards

  • Valid NICET certification (or willingness to obtain) a plus

  • Proficiency with major system brands (e.g., Notifier, Silent Knight, Honeywell, Bosch, DMP, etc.)

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fire Alarm License (state-specific, if applicable)

  • Knowledge of IP-based CCTV and networking fundamentals

  • Experience with integration platforms and cloud-based systems
