Design Engineer - Millwork
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our team at a high-end Millwork and Component manufacturer. This role is responsible for developing precise and innovative millwork designs, ensuring functionality, quality, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, drafters, and production teams to translate client specifications and architectural drawings into detailed shop drawings and technical plans for manufacturing and installation.

Responsibilities for the Design Engineer:
- Develop and produce detailed shop drawings, 3D models, and renderings for millwork projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
- Analyze architectural plans, specifications, and field measurements to develop custom millwork solutions for commercial and residential projects.
- Work closely with project managers, production teams, and estimators to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, and construction methods to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with AWI standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Address engineering challenges related to material properties, structural integrity, and manufacturing constraints.
- Collaborate with CNC programmers and fabricators to ensure accurate machining and efficient production processes.
- Provide technical support and recommendations to clients, architects, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain organized project documentation, revisions, and approvals within the company's design and project management systems.
Requirements of the Design Engineer:
- 3-5+ years of experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, or woodworking design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microvellum, iX CAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or related design software.
- Strong knowledge of woodworking materials, joinery techniques, finishes, and hardware applications.
- Experience in custom and large-scale millwork projects such as commercial interiors, hospitality, retail, and corporate environments.
- Familiarity with CNC machining, fabrication processes, and production workflow.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot design and production challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
