Job Title: Steel Estimator/Sales (Structural Steel Fabricator)

Location: St. Paul, MN

Company Overview: A Minneapolis structural steel fabricator is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Steel Estimator to join their dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for growth, with the potential to expand into project management and handle projects from cradle-to-grave.

Steel Estimator Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating & Bidding: Prepare accurate steel estimates for commercial construction projects, including schools, office buildings, and warehouses. Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and materials.

  • Sales & Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients, architects, and general contractors to understand project needs and provide competitive bids. Maintain relationships and follow up on project opportunities.

  • Cost Analysis & Budgeting: Review project requirements and costs, and ensure all estimates are within budget. Advise on material choices and alternative solutions to meet both design and budgetary constraints.

  • Project Coordination: Work closely with the project management and fabrication teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and efficient project execution.

  • Growth & Advancement: Opportunity to take on more responsibility, including managing projects from start to finish ("cradle-to-grave"), and leading teams through the design, fabrication, and installation phases.

Steel Estimator Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in steel estimating, with a focus on structural and miscellaneous steel projects.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, structural steel design, and industry standards. Familiarity with estimating software is a plus.

  • Skills: Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Sales Acumen: Ability to develop and maintain client relationships and demonstrate strong sales capabilities.
