Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense (AZ & CA Licensed)
Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Preferred) | Remote/Hybrid Available | CA Remote Option

Overview:
A respected defense firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney licensed in both Arizona and California to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will handle a blend of insurance defense matters across AZ and CA, including commercial litigation, professional liability, premises liability, and general liability defense.

This role offers flexible work options, including hybrid or in-office work from Scottsdale, AZ, or 100% remote work for candidates located in California (with optional use of the Long Beach office).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload involving insurance defense and complex litigation matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and mediations in AZ and CA
  • Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and internal team members
  • Work collaboratively with partners and other attorneys across offices

Requirements:

  • Active licensure in both Arizona and California
  • 2–5+ years of insurance defense or relevant litigation experience
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
  • Experience with commercial litigation, professional liability, premises liability, and general liability is strongly preferred

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $130,000 – $180,000, depending on experience
  • Bonus program based on billable hours over 1,850, with tiered increases every 50 hours
  • Bonus potential up to $50,000 annually

Work Environment:

  • Scottsdale office preferred for AZ-based candidates
  • Hybrid or in-office flexibility
  • CA candidates may work fully remote
