Job Description

A well-established and growing construction company is seeking a skilled HR Generalist to join its team. This role is ideal for a proactive, people-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting both office and field employees. The HR Generalist will play a key role in employee relations, recruiting, compliance, onboarding, and overall HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day HR functions including employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.

  • Assist with full-cycle recruitment for both field and office roles: sourcing, interviewing, and coordinating onboarding.

  • Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth integration into the company.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, including recordkeeping and reporting requirements.

  • Administer benefits programs, open enrollment, and respond to employee questions.

  • Assist with payroll processing and timekeeping accuracy as needed.

  • Partner with leadership to promote a positive, safe, and productive workplace culture.

  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and help optimize HR processes.

  • Support investigations, corrective actions, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of HR Generalist experience (construction or related industry strongly preferred).

  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, etc.).

  • Experience supporting hourly field staff highly valued.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

  • Proficiency with HRIS systems; ability to learn new software quickly.

  • PHR certification or higher is a plus (not required).
