Job Title: Operations Manager / General Superintendent – Heavy Civil
Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Operations Manager / General Superintendent to lead field operations across multiple heavy civil projects. This individual will oversee project execution, field staffing, scheduling, safety, productivity, and quality. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in bridge, highway, paving, earthwork, and concrete construction, ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for field operations across multiple active projects.
- Oversee daily jobsite performance, ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and budget expectations are met.
- Manage and mentor field teams including superintendents, foremen, and craft personnel.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to maximize efficiency.
- Support preconstruction efforts by reviewing plans, schedules, and constructability during the bidding phase.
- Collaborate closely with project managers on production goals, project planning, and cost control.
- Enforce company safety policies, quality standards, and operational procedures.
- Conduct regular site visits, progress reviews, and performance evaluations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, inspectors, engineers, and vendors.
- Assist in long-term operational planning, workforce development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Extensive field leadership experience in heavy civil construction.
- Strong background in bridge, highway, paving, concrete, and/or large earthwork operations.
- Proven ability to lead multiple crews and manage several projects simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of construction means and methods, equipment utilization, and production rates.
- Strong communication, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety culture and quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
