Sr. Tool & Die Maker

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Tool & Die Maker to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of tooling, gages, and related mechanical components used in advanced manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on engineering, cross-functional collaboration, customer interaction, and project leadership to ensure tooling solutions meet rigorous performance, quality, and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop tooling, gages, and mechanical components that interface with machines, hardware, and software systems.
  • Lead engineering personnel in tooling fabrication, installation, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer specifications.
  • Analyze customer proposals, specifications, and technical data to determine design feasibility and recommend improvements.
  • Document designs, engineering changes (ECNs), and lessons learned to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repair, and operational activities to optimize tooling performance and reliability.
  • Participate in cross-training on progressive, transfer, and single-hit tooling.
  • Estimate new business work, manage RFQs, and approve vendor requisitions in line with company guidelines.
  • Collaborate directly with customers on new and ongoing tooling-related projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience (tool design, die making, journeyman background).
  • 6–12 years of engineering experience with emphasis on tooling design.
  • Proficiency in CAD, CAM, GD&T, machining, progressive and transfer tooling, estimating, and stamping-industry manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical, mechanical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20–40 lbs, with adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity.
