Overview
A leading mechanical contractor specializing in commercial and industrial projects is seeking a Mechanical Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of piping, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system installations. This position offers a clear pathway to full Project Manager responsibility and is ideal for candidates who want to apply their technical background while learning the operational side of project delivery.
Assist Project Managers in the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects
Review drawings, specifications, and P&IDs to understand scope and identify coordination requirements
Support quantity takeoffs, pricing, procurement, and change order development
Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, equipment logs, and project documentation
Coordinate with field supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain project schedule and workflow
Monitor cost, productivity, and material status; assist with forecasting and reporting
Participate in site walks, progress reviews, start-up activities, and commissioning support
Contribute to project closeout, turnover documentation, and client-facing deliverables
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
1–4 years of experience in mechanical construction (HVAC, plumbing, piping, industrial systems, or similar)
Ability to read mechanical drawings, piping isometrics, and P&IDs
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Solid communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with field personnel, engineers, vendors, and clients
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with project management or construction software is a plus
Interest in long-term growth into a Project Manager role
