Job Description

Seeking an experienced Asbestos Supervisor to oversee critical site operations for asbestos removal and abatement projects. This role is hands-on, requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and compliance at every stage of project execution. The position is on-site and will require travel.

Key Responsibilities for our Asbestos Supervisor

  • Manage complete site set-up, including containment preparation, connecting walkways between mobile units or portable showers and work areas, disposal areas, and assembly/disassembly of scaffolding.
  • Ensure proper installation of portable air evacuation and filtration systems inside work areas.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for asbestos removal, cleanup, and decontamination.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and teams to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
  • Oversee handling and removal of asbestos and hazardous waste materials in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local/federal guidelines.
  • Act as a safety leader, supporting compliance, reporting incidents, and completing all required documentation (job books, air samples, waste manifests).
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and recognition to subordinates while monitoring delegated activities.
  • Inspect active containments, ensure compliance, and manage cost-saving measures on-site.
  • Uphold confidentiality, foster conflict resolution, and demonstrate respect for cultural and EEO standards.
  • Perform additional assigned duties and travel out of town as required.

Required Qualifications for our Asbestos Supervisor

  • 5–6 years of asbestos removal experience.
  • Current supervisor certification (40-hour EPA AHERA with annual 8-hour refresher).
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and Iowa State asbestos regulations.
  • Valid asbestos license and ability to pass state exam.
  • U.S. work authorization.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 lbs regularly.
  • Capability to pass a respirator fit test and work safely around hazardous materials.
  • Strong leadership, safety compliance, and documentation skills.

Physical Requirements of our Asbestos Supervisor: Regular walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and handling tools such as hammers, scrapers, power tools, and shovels. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and color vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
