We are currently looking for a Superintendent to join a well-established heavy civil contractor. This role is responsible for overseeing heavy civil construction projects, including roads, highways, drainage, utilities, and site development. The Superintendent ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of field operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency
- Supervise and coordinate Foremen and crews on highway construction projects
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate procurement and construction activities with the Project Manager
- Monitor project budgets, authorize expenditures, and control costs
- Review drawings, specifications, and subcontractor submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, ensuring smooth coordination with crews and subcontractors
- Enforce and communicate safety policies, ensuring compliance and providing necessary training
- Assess crew capabilities, provide leadership, and resolve job site issues effectively
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent preferred
- 3+ years of experience as a Superintendent in highway construction
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in highway construction, including mass earthwork, excavation, grading, and utility installation
- Strong knowledge of highway construction plans, specifications, and scheduling
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment (excavator, dozer, backhoe) preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
