Job Description

We are currently working with a manufacturer of PEEK components in Columbia County, NY that is looking for a qualified Machinist who can program, set up, and operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine to produce machined parts.

Job Responsibilities:

Program, set up, and operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine to produce machined parts.

Plan machining by studying work orders and blueprints and checking material stock.

  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, and offsets.
  • Calculating requirements including basic math, geometry, trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Install and adjust chucks, tools, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers to set up mills and lathes.
  • Load material.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample pieces.
  • Maintains specifications by observing cutting, drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling, and thread-chasing operations.
  • Troubleshoot processes; adjust and reprogram controls; sharpen and replace worn tools; follow quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Address preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshoot malfunctions, and request repairs.

 

Education – Experience:

  • High school diploma or Equivalent
  • Programming or operation experience of CNC mills or lathes.
  • Technical school or training related to CNCs.

Required Skills, and Competencies:

G and M Code Programming

This is an on-site position.

The wage is 25/hour
