Job Description

A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney / Complex Litigation Attorney to join its team in Portland, Maine or Concord, New Hampshire.

Position Overview

This is an opportunity for a skilled litigator to handle sophisticated matters from inception through resolution, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, negotiations, and trial. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, writing, advocacy, and courtroom skills and be comfortable managing complex cases and working directly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex litigation matters from intake through trial or resolution

• Develop case strategy and legal arguments

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Handle discovery, motions, hearings, and court appearances

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents

• Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues

• Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution

• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts

• Prepare cases for trial and represent clients in courtroom proceedings

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Active license to practice law in Maine or New Hampshire, as applicable

• Significant litigation experience, preferably involving complex matters

• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills

• Trial experience strongly preferred

• Ability to independently manage a substantial caseload

• Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and communication skills
