Job Description

A leading organization in the Electrical industry is looking for a Controller to join their team in collaboration to effectively plan, organize and direct all activity areas pertaining to manufacturing accounts and/or function systems such as purchases, inventory, overhead, production, and labor to determine the impact of these costs on the cost of goods sold.

Controller Responsibilities:

  • Coordination with appropriate manufacturing personnel to facilitate the periodic update of the standard costs in the bill of materials
  • Maintain daily financial reports and check methods to confirm transaction entry to MRP system
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs for pricing and planning purposes
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports for upper management comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Analyze DL/IDL variances on a daily basis and report on periodic variances and their causes, with a focus on DL/IDL variances
  • Monitor MRP system for accuracy, including errors in receiving, production reporting, shipping, and routings
  • Compile and analyze the manufacturing operations financial information and assist in month-end close of the General Ledger as it relates to COGS and Inventory accounting
  • Generate weekly reports to include material variance, direct labor variance and assist with variance analysis
  • Assist with development of product costs for budget
  • Analyze labor, material, inventory, and purchase price variances and investigate discrepancies on a regular basis
  • Review direct and indirect labor performance including preparing production line reconciliations (e.g., headcount, downtime)
  • Perform periodic audits of production records to ensure accuracy of recorded quantities, verify internal steps and controls are being followed, and analyze usage of materials
  • Create product structure and maintain bills of material for all manufacturing goods
  • Coordinate interim physical inventory counts and monitor the cycle count program
  • Assist the materials department with monthly inventory activities
  • Support and participate in year-end inventory observation

Controller Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing/inventory environment as a cost accountant, analyst, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Possess sound financial and business insights
  • Experience in MRP/ERP system; S2K software or AS400 preferred
  • Intermediate or above proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-tasked environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work under time constraints
