Tax Director - Private Client

Location: San Ramon, CA (or San Jose, CA)

Overview

A top-20 national accounting and consulting firm is seeking a Tax Director for its private client practice in San Ramon, California (San Jose also considered). This role reviews complex high-net-worth individual returns, consults on transactions, manages large engagements and develops managers.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical reviews of tax returns for high-net-worth individuals
• Provide consultation on business and personal transactions and related tax implications
• Manage larger, complex engagements and the workflow of multiple clients and deliverables
• Review or conduct research on complex or emerging tax issues and prepare supporting memoranda
• Engage with business development, identify opportunities and pursue extended services
• Train and develop managers responsible for engagement management
• Stay current on tax law changes and share updates with the tax practice

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax, finance or a related discipline
• Qualified to practice before the IRS (CPA, EA or JD)
• 8+ years of public accounting tax experience or equivalent
• 4+ years in a managerial role involving clients and team members
• Master's degree in accounting or taxation preferred
