Scheduler – EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction)
Position Summary
The Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling activities for a complex Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project. This role involves developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules, analyzing progress, and coordinating closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment with project milestones and deliverables. The position also includes integrating schedules from multiple third-party sources, including Engineering, Procurement, and Subcontractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain integrated EPC project schedules using Primavera P6.
Create detailed baseline schedules incorporating engineering deliverables, procurement activities, approval cycles, construction sequencing, and commissioning milestones.
Collaborate with project stakeholders to define schedule logic, constraints, and interdisciplinary interfaces.
Monitor project progress, update schedules with actual performance data, and identify variances or potential risks.
Perform schedule analysis, critical path analysis, and forecasting of project completion dates.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractors to validate schedule accuracy and feasibility.
Produce weekly and monthly schedule reports, dashboards, and recovery plans as needed.
Lead routine 3-week lookahead sessions and provide reporting to support construction planning.
Support earned value analysis and conduct schedule risk assessments.
Participate in project meetings to present schedule status updates and recommend mitigation strategies.
Conduct formal schedule risk analyses with stakeholders and produce regular risk reports.
Ensure scheduling activities are in compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in scheduling large-scale EPC or industrial construction projects.
Proficient in Primavera P6; familiarity with MS Project or other scheduling tools is a plus.
Solid understanding of engineering workflows, procurement lead times, and field construction sequencing.
Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM), resource loading, and progress measurement techniques.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with earned value management (EVM) and schedule risk analysis is desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Demands
Regular overtime is required.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Frequent standing and walking are required.
This is a full-time, on-site position, and may involve temporary travel for extended periods.
