Position Overview:

We are seeking a Land Use and Government Advice Attorney with at least six years of municipal law experience, including strong expertise in housing, land use, and CEQA. This role offers the chance to represent public agencies across the Bay Area and California while supporting a growing practice. Our attorneys provide full legal support to cities, counties, special districts, and nonprofit clients. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple matters efficiently. Candidates should be collaborative, enjoy mentoring junior staff, and be comfortable with public speaking and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as principal legal contact for public agency and nonprofit clients

  • Provide clear and efficient communication on a wide range of government and land use matters

  • Attend and advise at public meetings and hearings

  • Supervise associates, legal professionals, and office staff

  • Lead business development and marketing initiatives for individual practice and firm-wide growth

  • Advise on housing, land use, and CEQA matters, as well as general government law including the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 6–10 years of legal experience, preferably serving as lead attorney on client engagements

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with excellent research and analytical abilities

  • Commitment to public interest legal practice or serving the public sector

  • Expertise in housing and land use law, including CEQA

  • Knowledge of general government law, including Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act

  • Ability and interest in mentoring junior attorneys and legal staff

  • Comfort with public speaking and active involvement in business development
