Job Description

A well-established boutique law firm in Chicago, recognized nationally for its private client services, is seeking a Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join its team. The firm focuses on areas such as Business & Corporate Law, Trusts & Estates, Taxation, Real Estate, Non-profits, and more. Clients primarily include high-net-worth individuals, families, and privately held companies.

The right candidate will assist attorneys in all stages of estate planning and probate processes, with a strong understanding of court procedures and legal protocols. Responsibilities include drafting estate planning documents, handling probate administration, and conducting legal research. The ideal paralegal is highly organized, detail-oriented, professional, and an excellent communicator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft estate planning and probate documents

  • Manage and organize estate and probate files

  • Form business entities

  • Conduct legal research relevant to estate planning and probate

  • Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other professionals

  • Prepare and file legal documents with courts

  • Maintain databases and tracking systems

  • Ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner

  • Follow up with clients on required paperwork and signatures

  • Assist attorneys with additional assignments as needed

Skills & Abilities

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and tact

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexibility to work beyond standard hours during peak periods

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal in estate planning or probate (required)

  • Knowledge of probate court procedures and rules

  • Strong research and drafting skills

  • Paralegal certification or degree in legal studies (preferred)
